DJ Earworm and YouTube released videos celebrating music in 2014.

On Dec. 3, San Francisco-based mash-up artist DJ Earworm released his annual “United State of Pop” song and video.  The mash-up is released once a year and features the top 25 songs from Billboard’s Year-End Hot 100 chart.  The 2014 edition is called “Do What You Wanna Do” and the video. which includes clips from all the different songs’ music videos, already has over 7 million hits on YouTube.  The mash-up features songs such as Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass”, Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off”, Jason Derulo’s “Talk Dirty”, Iggy Azalea’s “Fancy” and many more.

Six days later on Dec. 9, YouTube released their annual “Rewind” video.  This year’s video is called “YouTube Rewind: Turn Down for 2014”, and features stars of popular YouTube videos, known as YouTubers, from this year including Jenna Marbles, Tyler Oakley, and Bethany Mota.  These stars dance and jump through different settings while a mash-up of popular songs of the year play in the background.  The mash-up is, of course, by DJ Earworm, and includes the hit collaboration “Bang Bang” by Ariana Grande, Jessie J, and Nicki Minaj, Idina Menzel’s “Let It Go” and many other chart-toppers from the past year.

Both of these newly released videos celebrate the superb music released this year, and make it clear that 2014 was a year to be remembered.
