Student Profile: Lydia Fitzpatrick

The transition from middle school to high school can be very tough, especially if you plan on getting involved in multiple school activities. Freshman, Lydia Fitzpatrick participates in the cheer and gymnastics teams, as well as in theater.  She is a busy girl, but handles all of her activities with great organization.

Fitzpatrick is on the varsity cheer team which has practice everyday. This can be a big change for a freshman who may not be used to such intense extracurriculars.

“I usually get my homework done before cheer practice because I stay after school, so that’s a good time for me to just sit down and get my homework done,” Fitzpatrick said.

Fitzpatrick’s workload increased when she entered high school, but she still likes several parts of it.

“I love all the school spirit and being able to go to G square at lunch. It’s really fun and there’s so much more freedom,” Fitzpatrick said.

Even though Fitzpatrick has a very full schedule with cheer, she additionally has an interest in theater. She is in the Drama One class, to make up for not being able to commit herself to the plays and musicals at WJ.

“With drama, I don’t have a lot of time for it because of cheer, but it’s still really fun to take the class and try new things,” Fitzpatrick said.

Fitzpatrick says that she loves the school spirit the most in high school, and she plans to continue to participate in cheer and try out for the gymnastics team in the spring.
