Did you receive your Weekly H.U.G.? Feb. 10-16

Home- On Mon. Feb. 11, the frozen yogurt shop FYI (Frozen Yogurt Indulgence) opened in Georgetown Square. The new fro-yo shop replaced Bradley’s Ice Cream Shoppe, which occupied the space before FYI. Though construction was delayed and as well as the opening, since it was supposed to open last year,the shop is now a new place for WJ students to purchase food during open lunch and is very popular among the student body

United States- On Tues. Feb. 12, President Barack Obama gave his State of the Union address to the nation. Obama gave his speech at 9 p.m. ET and in his speech, he addressed many topics and promises he wants to carry out. The promises included combating AIDS, keeping social security and finding cleaner energy sources. This was the first State of the Union address given since Obama’s reelection. Globe-  On Mon. Feb. 11, Pope Benedict XVI announced his resignation as Pope, shocking the world. Pope Benedict, who has set his resignation at the end of February, is the first Pope to resign in 600 years. The pope, speaking in Latin and explaining his resignation, said, “I have come to the certainty that my strengths, due to an advanced age, are no longer suited to an adequate exercise of the Petrine ministry.”

On Wed. Feb. 13, the Pope made his first public appearance since announcing his resignation, as he was cheered on by thousands of people waiting to hear his thoughts. (Source: CNN)
