On Mon. April 8, 17-year-old Rockville HS student, Michelle Miller, was found dead in the Germantown house of 31-year old Adam A. Arndt, an Army staff Sargent in an apparent muder-suicide. According to a police report, Arndt shot Miller and then shot himself, leaving her family, friends and schoolmates devastated. The two were both found dead in the house at 10 a.m. Monday morning after police forced their way through.
On April 7, Miller was at Ardnt’s house in the evening after she told her father she had to meet a friend who was “suicidal.” After a while her father started to text her, and she initially replied. But when he stopped hearing from her, he contacted her friends who gave him information about her possible wherabouts. After obtaining more information, her father drove to Ardnt’s house, where he saw Miller’s car parked. Subsequently, he called the police. Police stated that Miller and Arndt had met through her recruitment to the Army Reserve, though they do not know the exact motive behind the shooting. They also did not know the nature of Miller’s relationship with Arndt though there are now reports stating they were romantically linked. According to the Washington Post, Miller was supposed to start basic training with the Army this summer, and was only months from graduation. She also played varsity lacrosse and soccer, tutored and took AP and honors classes in addition to Montgomery College courses.
