Home- WJ held its annual Fine Arts Festival from May 21-23, allowing art students to show off their talents to students and parents. The show took place in the small gym and was open during the school day. There was also an art show evening reception was from 6 to 9 p.m.
United States- A disastrous, mile-wide tornado hit Oklahoma on May 20 and has been recorded as one of the worst tornadoes to ever strike the state. The death toll of this natural disaster was at least 24, nine of whom were children. The storm left miles and miles of rubble where homes and building once stood and reached wind speeds up to 210 mph. In its place, the storm left a devastated state. (Source: New York Times)
Globe- On May 23, a powerful remote-controlled bomb destroyed a police truck in southwestern Pakistan, killing at least 13 officers and injuring at least 17 others. The bomb exploded shortly after 8 a.m., when the the rapid response force of the Baluchistan Constabulary, a reserve police unit, was heading to a government building. As they were driving, a roadside bomb, believed to contain at least 200 pounds of explosives, went off, causing the incident. The attack was conducted by the group Lashkar-e-Jhangvi, a Pakistani militant group, who claimed responsibility. (Source: New York Times)
