On Mon. April 15, at around 2:50 p.m., two explosions erupted during the Boston marathon, about three hours after the winners crossed the finish line. The explosions were within 10 seconds of each other and caused massive panic and confusion. Two other bombs were found and were diffused before they could do any more harm.
Bloodied and injured spectators and competitors were rushed to medical tents initially set up for tired runners. So far, two people have died and 23 were injured.
According to BBC news, President Barack Obama has been notified of the event and Vice President Joe Biden said, “Our prayers are with those people in Boston who have suffered injury.”
After the explosion, the scene was locked down, straggling runners were directed away from the blast zone and the organizers stopped the race. The cause of the explosion has still not yet been confirmed. (Source: USA Today and BBC news)
