Up-at-Bat: Affirmative Action in College Admissions

This past February, the Supreme Court agreed to hear the case Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin, which could potentially end affirmative action in college admissions. In past cases, the Supreme Court has banned racial quotas but upheld racially-conscious admissions. With many upperclassmen going through, or done with, the admissions process, WJ students answer the question, “Do you think it’s fair for colleges to use affirmative action in an otherwise merit-based admission process?” in this week’s Up-at-Bat.
