Opinion Blast: Senior Year Ain’t Done Yet

Most seniors are slaving over college applications and the incessant piles of homework, but recently, my friends have started talking about the monumental senior year events: homecoming, prom and graduation.

While I like thinking about the future, all my friends seem to be planning for their first year of college as if senior year is already over. I know seniors just want to get the heck out of here, but it is September and we still have many months to go until May.

The only things seniors should really be focusing on is college apps and homework… maybe. All my free time is devoted to the endless applications and essays. To focus on future events that won’t matter until second semester is just a waste of time and an added stressor. I don’t want to worry about how much prom is going to cost or how difficult AP tests are going to be.

Now I’m not saying seniors shouldn’t think about future, but can we please give it a rest for just a few more months? I think we should focus on more urgent things first, and then second semester we can go crazy.
