Over the past two years, WJ’s running teams, primarily the cross country team, have drawn unfamiliar attention from the WJ community. Most of this attention has been due to the teams' consistency in finishing in the top three at all of their meets. This year's boys indoor track team is led by senior captains Martin Dally and Sean O’Leary. O’Leary has burst onto the scene after finishing first at the cross country State Championships. Dally has been a consistent star for the team, often finishing in the top five in his races. The girls team is led by senior Jenna Willett, who has been on every WJ running team since her freshman year.

Meet: Montgomery Invitational at PG Sportsplex on Jan. 9
Boys Results:
-6th in 4x800 meter relay
-10th distance medley
Girls Results:
-2nd 4x800 meter relay
-3rd Distance medley
-51st in 4x200 meter relay
-21st in 4x400 meter relay
Opponent: Around 50 MCPS and Howard County schools.
Highlight: The girls showed off their speed by placing second in the 4x800 meter relay.
Next Meet: MCPS Championship at PG Sportsplex on Jan. 25, at 2 pm. |

Meet: Howard County/MCPS Challenge at PG Sportsplex.
Boys Results:
Placed: Tied for 21st overall
-14th in 4x5 meter relay 55 sprint
-5th in 4x200 meter relay
-10th in 1200-400-800-1600 meter distance medley
Girls Results:
Placed: 19th overall
-15th in 4x5 meter relay 55 sprint
-13th in 4x200 meter relay
Opponent: Around 50 MCPS and Howard County schools
Highlight: The boys showed off their speed by placing fifth in the 4x200 meter relay.
Runner's Perspective: "We tried hard, and it's just like a fundamental meet, so it was like a learning experience for people. Overall, it was so badly organized and there was so much confusion, the people who organized it weren't really on top of it. - "Sophomore Amanda Regan.
