Boys’ and coed look to improve

Boys%E2%80%99+and+coed+look+to+improve

As the spring season began, Boys and coed volleyball start their tryouts for the 2017 team. This year, tryouts went for four days. Coaches Brian Fairall and Bill Morris were able to identify who they believed could bring the best results and have the most sportsmanship both on and off the court. Morris and Fairall are pros at being able to see volleyball player’s future in the sport and know exactly what it takes to take the team to the top.
Volleyball started off their season with a scrimmage against Magruder High School. New players on the court were able to get an understanding of how games normally go and all players got a review of the positions played.
Although volleyball players tend to play designated positions such as outside hitter and libero, this scrimmage allowed the boys team to be able to try out new areas on the court while still being in the competitive nature that comes with playing a game. Veteran players gave newbies advice on how to play their best and explained the rules aren’t always memorized.
Coed volleyball won two out of three sets in the scrimmage against Magruder. The coed version of the sport has a few rules that are different from boys’ volleyball, so the players had to learn to adapt to the new situation.
Senior Lucy Meyers has played on both girls volleyball and coed volleyball in the past so she was able to help smooth the transition. Player rotations are one of the hardest things to remember because of all the switching and the formations. It was the first time that the team had to play rotations in a competitive game, so the team’s alumni players gave some new players court directing from their teammates.
Though that doesn’t take away the need for the coaches. Fairall and Morris had directed the teams into victories. With the start of the new season, you can see how much support they have put into making sure that the team does their best. No matter the score, they are proud of their teams for going out there and showing the skills they worked so hard to perfect.
The teams began their season on March 21 at Paint Branch High School. Both teams started off on the right foot with straight set wins. They then held their first home games on Thursday, March 23 against Poolesville High School.

Kyle is ranked 11th in the country for volley ball. He dominates the court and brings a certain ambiance to the court. Kyle is also a baddie and looks super cute when he runs on and off the court. GO KYLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Christian Eisenbrey is a baddie for sure. So I think he should be our senior class president.
