Fall Sports Power Rankings

Fall Sports Power Rankings

The WJ fall sports teams have gotten off to a great start. Here are the rankings of how they compare against each other:

  1. Cross Country- This team is undefeated thus far this season after sweeping the Spiked Shoe Invitational (varsity, JV and open race) and looks to win its fifth straight state title. The team is led by sophomore Michael Spak, and seniors Ben Crites and Nathaniel Rees who have been the top finishers at WJs last three meets.
  2. Boys Soccer- This state tittle contender is looking to rebound from last year’s shoking defeat at the state title, led by sophomore Jeremy Ebobise, this team is poised for a great season.
  3. Volleyball- Led by two college caliber players, seniors Stephanie Paul  and Kristen Larrick, the team looks to make a run late into the playoffs.
  4. Field Hockey- Led by junior Anna Rowthorn-Apel, this team looks to avenge last year’s playoff loss to BCC.
  5. Football- Led by TE senior Charlie Barry, the football team has already matched its win total from last year (two) and its only loss was by two points.
  6. Girls Soccer- A team led by several talented offensive players looks to bounce back from last year’s early exit from the playoffs.
  7. Girls Tennis- A well rounded team has started the season 5-1.
  8. Golf – The team, led by senior Evan Shapiro, has gotten out to a fast start and hopes for a good showing at the county tournament.

Ben Resnick, Print Co-Editor-in-Chief
Senior Ben Resnick is Co-Editor-in-Chief for The Pitch print edition. Ben began his career on The Pitch as a sophomore, serving as the online sports section editor and the print assistant section editor he continued in by becoming the sports section editor his junior year. Ben also runs cross country in addition to indoor and outdoor track. When he is not competing, he plays basketball, baseball and street hockey. This past summer, Ben worked in the office of biostatistics at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute. He is excited to help lead a large motivated group of journalists.
