The Best Ways to Waste Your Spring Break

As we all know, spring break is coming up soon. For most people, that means one of two reactions. The first would be: “OMG I’m so excited! I’m going to the beach, and I’m going to surf and work on my tan!”, while the other reaction would be: “OMG I’m so excited! I’m going to stay at home, watch Netflix and eat junk food all day!” And for those who are stuck at home (like me), I’ve taken the liberty of making a list of ways for you to do nothing in the most efficient way possible.

Television

The new season of “Game of Thrones”` is starting, and it’s totally worth binge-watching. Additionally,”Hannibal” is continuing its second season through all of April and most of May, and if you’re a fan of drama, and not being able to sleep at night, “Hannibal” is the series for you!

“Hannibal” is about a detective named Will Graham, who has a way with serial killers and psychopaths. He gets inside thier heads, and can figure out why they’re doing what they’re doing. But sometimes, he needs a little help. The source of that help comes from Dr. Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist. Together there’s no killer they can’t catch. The twist is, Lecter is also a serial killer, and the only person who knows it is the audience.

Another possible series could be “The 100”. This brand-new series premiered on March 27, and in my opinion, has the chance to either fail or succeed in equal measure. On the plus side, it’s a post-apocalyptic “Hunger Games”- esque type of action drama. On the minus side, the suspiciously high amount of teenagers in the cast makes me think it might be a par for the course teen drama. Only time will tell.

Movies

As far as I can see, April looks kind of sparse as far as good movies go. There’s a sequel to Captain America: “Captain America, Winter Soldier”, which is about the Captain trying to uncover a secret conspiracy that threatens to destroy the world (again). He teams up with Black Widow and the Falcon, which is cool. But honestly, based on how the original “Captain America” was FANTASTIC-ly… okay, my hopes weren’t too high. The movie itself wasn’t terrible, with lots of nice little nods to other Marvel characters with an after-credits scene that got me super hyped up, but it’s not necessarily a must-see.

Next up is “Rio 2”, the sequel to the wildy popular “Rio”, (duh). Once again, this is a bit of judgement call. I was one of those people who wan’t crazy about the first “Rio”, so I probably won’t be watching this one.

The one I’m really excited for is the original japanese “Godzilla”. Why am I excited to watch this? Because it’s Godzilla! I’m definitely going to be watching this, because who doesn’t want to watch a guy in a rubber suit smash buildings? Boring people, that’s who. But in all honesty, this is really a nostalgia trip, a nod to days past. If you want to see a really awesome, memorable movie this April, I’m afraid you’re out of luck.

Games

As far as new releases in the gaming world, the only major palyers are “inFamous:Second Son”, “Dark Souls 2”, “Titanfall”, “South Park: The stick of truth”, and some new DLC for “Bioshock Infinite”, all of which are solid games, and all worth playing. “inFamous” is one of the most popular lines on Playstation, with the player taking control of a superpowered human called a conduit. The game allows you to chose how to use your powers, and whether you aregood or evil. Second Son is an excellent addition to the infamous series, with smoother gameplay and way better graphics, as well an improved karma system, and more diverse and exciting missions. “South Park: Stick of Truth” was surprisingly good, delivering one of the finest RPG experiences I’ve seen in a while, as well as being absolutely hilarious. “Titanfall” is an FPS who’s signature twist is the addition of massive mechs called titans, who add another layer of depth to an already deep combat system, which includes a very solid freerunning/parkour system. Finally, “Burial at Sea” continues the “Bioshock” saga with a memorable story coupled with fun gameplay.
