Pike and Rose’s new iPic Theater is looking to change up the movie theater industry. Typically movie theaters usually have ticket prices ranging from $10 to $15, depending on the theater. These theaters can be cramped with seats placed very close together, but in the iPic Theater, extra leg room is included if you are willing to pay the more expensive ticket prices.

The new theater offers two seating options: premium seating, priced at $13, and premium plus seating, priced at $22. The difference between the two options is not incredibly drastic. While premium offers a comfortable seat, side table, and optional food and drinks, premium plus seats offer reclining leather chairs accompanied with a pillow, blanket and free popcorn.

While many theaters offer candy, popcorn and soda, iPic goes all out and offers gourmet style food options, including alcoholic drinks for those of age. iPic theaters also allow clients to choose their seats in advance, a convenience most theaters do not offer.

Earlier this year, iPic offered free mock-run tickets to encourage people to try out the theater.  Students and adults alike appeared at the four day event. Senior Dani Pardo said she noticed many great things about the up-scale theater during the soft opening.

“The staff [members] were super nice, they guided you everywhere, treated you awesome and took care of you,” stated Pardo. “The chairs, the food and the waiters…it’s pretty cool.”

Senior Catherine Lieb was also very impressed with the theater’s quality.

“I loved iPic theaters. I honestly think it’s probably one of the best new places that people can go to just chill and relax with family or friends. The service is one of a kind and I think that the majority of people would be willing to pay extra to have better service and a better experience overall,” said Lieb. “Even the setting put me in a great mood…as soon as you walk into iPic it feels like you’re walking into a fancy hotel or fancy apartment lobby…the service given by the staff is incredible and it makes people want to keep coming back,” she said.

With its higher price and sophisticated atmosphere, iPic appears to be catered more to adults than typical high school students. Senior Cindy Abah was star-struck when she noticed the theater’s commodities.

“I loved the chairs and the fact that they recline…I like how iPic offers food selections as well, but in my opinion, I feel like if I ever attend it again I’d probably fall asleep because it’s too comfortable,” said Abah, “I appreciate greatly how the waiters cater to your needs, but I feel like maybe iPic is catered more to adults who want to chill after a long day at work or something like that,” said Abah.

Time will tell if iPic’s high quality facilities and elegance becomes a precedent for movie theaters everywhere.
