Home- On Wednesday Oct. 3, students in Mr. Richards’ AP Physics class participated in an egg drop on the roof of the cafeteria. The object of an egg drop is to use copier paper and masking tape to create a safe spot for an egg to land, without breaking, since it will reach speeds of up to 30 MPH and drop four stories. Due to weather forecasts, some of the periods had to postpone their egg drop until the following day.

United States- On Oct. 2, an early morning shootout on the border of Arizona and Mexico took place which killed a border patrol officer and wounded another. The shootout took place near a Border Patrol station in Naco, AZ which was recently named after agent Brian Terry, a former officer who was murdered in 2010. Police have identified the agent as Nicholas Ivie, 30, who has been an agent since 2008.

Globe- Syrian state television attacked Hamas leader Khaled Meshal on Oct. 1 for not completely knowing his stance on the Syrian uprising. Khaled was portrayed as an ungrateful child by the television attack and was mocked over and over again about his life. The most drawn out example was when the female newscaster said Khaled was “orphaned” because no Arab country would accept him after he fled. Though Hamas did not respond immediately to the uprising, they did comment that they supported the resistance and there is no contradiction.
