February is chock-full of events due to WJ’s annual participation in the Pennies for Patients fundraiser, which benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. There is an activity for everyone and Pennies for Patients can be a really fun time. However, I hate the scheduling of Pennies for Patients. Because of clubs and afterschool acitivites, I am unable to attend so many of the staple events and truly enjoy the month.

Most of these events happen after school and may thus conflict with any previous engagements students may have. I understand there is no way to appease every student, but I feel that more events should be scheduled during the year rather than one month. If someone is busy during February, then he or she will miss a majority of the activities at the school.

I’m not saying that there should be fewer events during February, because it’s important that a lot of time is put into Pennies for Patients, but I think more events should be happening all year. If there is more going on, then people who are busier during February don’t feel as though they’ve missed out on all the fun.

I know it’s very hard to organize all the events, but putting in some more effort for other activities during the year would beneficial to all with minimal costs.
