Boys’ Swim Team Takes Home a Second Straight State Title

Boys Swim Team Takes Home a Second Straight State Title

Senior Barry Mangold finished his historic high school swimming career with a splash.  Mangold won the 50m and 100m freestyle races. The meet took place on Feb. 22 and 23 at UMCP Eppley Recreation Center.

The team had an outstanding performance, beating second place winner Blair by 70 points. Senior Chris Root had an outstanding meet coming in 2nd in the 100m freestyle and 5th in the 50m freestyle. The relay teams also had a superb outing: both the 200m and 400m freestyle relays came in second place.

The girls’ swim team came a long way from the beginning of the season after coming in fifth at the division championship and capped it off by coming in fourth place. The girls received key contributions from juniors Natsumi Horikawa and Sophia Kuvan. The girls’ team will not graduate many seniors this year and hopes to do even better next year.
