The starting lineup for the WJ boys varsity soccer team kneels in a huddle together before a regular season game against Churchill. This has become a ritual they do before every game.

The stage was set. Walter Johnson versus Northwest in the county championship. Two powerhouse teams with only three losses between them. Walter Johnson was dominating as they were keeping possession and getting a lot of great chances, but they had allowed in a goal. The game was tied 1-1.
However, just 20 minutes in, the game was called for rain and thunder. Although this was disappointing, the Wildcats expected to have another chance at the county championship just as their game against BCC had been rescheduled. However, the county decided with the upcoming playoffs it would be too difficult to reschedule and deemed the Wildcats and Jaguars co-champions of the county.
Senior captain Alejandro Linares lamented on the decision. ¨We wanted to keep playing, and once we found out there wasn’t going to be a rematch, we were all really upset because we knew we had this game,¨ Linares said.
This disappointing result doesn’t distract the Wildcats, “This team is focused on our ultimate goal,¨ Linares said.
