Trend Alert– Tech Edition: Cool Phone Cases

In coordinating outfits, one can add accessories to create a cohesive theme. Accessories typically include shoes, jewelry and scarves, but as of late, phone cases have also been used to express personal style.

Most phone cases only cover and shield the outside of phones, leaving the screen unprotected. Other cases have flaps that close over the screens, so when they are dropped, the screens won’t shatter completely. Cases that have covers known as borders, only protect the very slim edge of phones and leave the rest up to gravity.

Cases that leave phone screens unprotected are more popular today and come in fancy patterns, styles and shapes. When browsing websites such as Amazon.com, there are many in animal shapes. Freshman Victoria Gregoria’s iPhone 5 case is in the shape of an elephant.

“I wanted a case that represents my individuality when everyone has the same phone,” said Gregorio.

Since iPhones, especially the iPhone 5, have become increasingly popular, Gregorio stresses the importance of distinguishing her phone from those of her peers.
