FTL (PC), or Faster Than Light, is a game that single handedly made all my spacefaring/star trek dreams come true. The game puts you in command of a ship that has been sent to warn the human alliance of a rebel uprising. The player needs to defeat enemies, gather supplies, deliver the message, avoid getting destroyed by the rebels, and manage a crew, all while exploring distant galaxies. My one gripe with this game is the amount of micromanaging that needs to be done. Fix the engine, make sure oxygen levels are stable, make sure the weapons systems aren’t broken, fix the hull, extinguish fires, keep crew happy, don’t die, plan ahead, blah blah blah blah. However all the micromanaging is actually a blessing as well, as you feel like you fully control your future. You can also recruit new races onto your ship, so you can have an all alien crew, including such species as Rockmen, Mantises and so much more.
