Sociology is bugging out
Sociology is eating their way through their syllabus and starting with bugs? That’s right, this week at WJ, the sociology class took steps outside of their comfort zones by eating bugs. The menu varied from white chocolate covered worms, to chocolate covered crickets and the squirmy sweets got mixed opinions.
“We did this [experiment] to show culture norms because in a lot of societies, eating bugs is considered commonplace and bugs are a main source of protein, but in our culture people are disgusted by the thought of eating them.” said junior Julia Rose.
This helped to teach the students not to judge a book by its cover and to try to appreciate other cultures in a first hand experience.
