Security Team Leader Lisa Kennedy, who has been at WJ for 15 years, will be leaving her job as head of security on Fri., April 3 to take a federal government job with a company called Eagle Alliance. According to Kennedy, this new job is very close to her home and she describes it as a wonderful opportunity with tremendous professional growth.
“I’m going to miss the kids, working with students every day,” she said. “I’m going to miss all the families, knowing them all these years. I guess you could call it bittersweet.”
Assistant Principal Fran Irvin will miss her when she is gone.
“She is a bright beacon of, I think, safety, hope and confidence to the students and staff here,” said Irvin.
According to Kennedy, her job at WJ has challenged her to take on many different rolls in students’ lives, including mentor and disciplinarian.
“She’s like the big sister I never had,” said sophomore Arielle Collado. “It’s easier to talk to her than most of the adults at this school.”
