Crystal Dovman
Special Education math teacher Crystal Dovman is transferring to B-CC High School at the end of this year after teaching at WJ for six years. At B-CC, Dovman will be the Special Education Resource Teacher, whereas at WJ she spent three years teaching in the Learning Center and three years teaching in the Learning for Independence Program. Dovman described her move to B-CC as bittersweet.
“I’m not teaching at B-CC, so it’s a different [kind of] job from WJ,” said Dovman. “I’ll miss the community that I was really involved with here.”
Dovman started the Best Buddies program at WJ and served as the sponsor for the tenth grade.
“It’s been really fun [sponsoring activities] and getting to work with lots of different kids,” said Dovman.

Susan Tinsley
Susan Tinsley started as a student teacher at WJ in 1970 and is currently working in the Learning Center as a special education English teacher.
She used to spend evenings working for the Montgomery County Outreach Program, helping kids on the street find healthy alternatives. She has also taught in Georgia, at Rockville High School and at the Regional Institute for Children and Adolescents before coming to WJ, where she has been teaching for 14 years.
“Teaching is my vocation and avocation; I thoroughly believe I was born to teach,” said Tinsley. “You learn from everybody and I will miss the energy of young people.”
Tinsley and her husband are in the process of selling their home and will be moving to their small beach house in South Bethany.
