The Pitch

Playoff Contenders and Pretenders

As the NFL season comes to a close, it is time for me to make my end of the year predictions on how the playoffs will unfold. The AFC appears to be very tough this year, and it will be a fight to represent the conference in the Super Bowl. With that said, the New England Patriots appear to be on a roll after crushing the Houston Texans this past week. Thus, the Patriots are my pick in the AFC.

In the NFC, the Falcons looked like to the team to beat early on in the season, but they are starting to struggle. The San Fransisco 49ers have a good defense and run game, which should suit them well in the playoffs. I think they will win the NFC. Although these teams have proven to be the best in the regular season the last two years, the New York Giants and Green Bay Packers snuck into the playoffs as sixth seeds, and got hot at the right time. They were able to win it all, so be sure to look out for wild card teams as the playoffs roll around.
