The 2013 NFL draft was one of the most unique drafts in recent memory. The first two picks in this year’s draft were both offensive tackles, which was unprecedented.
The first quarterback, EJ Manual, was taken by the Buffalo Bills with the 18th pick, which was unique in that most years there is always at least one quarterback taken in the first 10 picks. Many players who were projected to be picked in the first round but were instead picked on the second day, such as Notre Dame’s linebacker Manti T’eo and West Virginia’s quarterback Geno Smith.
The Washington Redskins did not have a first pick this year because they traded it to get quarterback Robert Griffin III last year, but they were still able to fill their needs. With their first pick (number 51 overall) they got a very talented cornerback, David Amerson, out of NC state. The Redskins had six more picks and they filled positions in which they desperatly needed help, such as safety and tight end.
