With places such as Harry Potter World and Universal studios shut down, Harry Potter fans take to the internet to create new fun filled activities for fans of all degrees to take part in.

Virtual escape room
Are you a Harry Potter fan, an escape room fanatic or completely out of lockdown ideas? If you answered yes to any of these, boy do I have the game for you. This Harry Potter themed escape room was created by Sydney Krawiec, a librarian at Peters Township Public Library. It features fun and intricate puzzles that draw inspiration from J.K. Rowling’s Wizarding World. While a basic understanding of Harry Potter can help, feel free to take a crack at it even if you’re not a big fan. All in all this project is a perfect blend of Harry Potter knowledge and problem-solving skills, making for a unique experience for both super fans and people just looking to pass time. If you try this escape room and are dying for more, don’t fret, many other companies have been inspired by Krawiec’s creativity and have created escape rooms of their own, such as this one, created by Ali Hébert from Halifax Public Libraries.

Harry Potter at Home
If you’re looking for a more relaxing activity check out the new Harry Potter at Home section of the official Wizarding World’s website. This new addition features quizzes, magical crafts and much more. The best part, however, is the narration of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s stone. This might not sound that exciting but let me explain to you why it really is. Not only is it basically a free audiobook of Harry Potter, which would usually cost you 40 bucks, but each chapter is narrated by a different celebrity. Chapter one features none other than the illustrious, the magnificently British, the boy who lived himself, Daniel Radcliffe. Other chapters are read by just as wonderfully British people such as Fantastic Beasts star, Eddie Redmayne and the original narrator of the Harry Potter audiobooks, Stephan Fry. These narrations are videos but can also be found on Spotify for people who prefer just to listen.

Online Hogwarts Classes
I’m sure many of you remember turning eleven and being devastated when no owl bearing a life changing letter appeared at your window, and yes I know how soul crushing it was when you had to finally accept the fact that you are just a muggle. I’m sorry for leading you down this dark path in memory lane but I have a point, I promise. My point is that this website is muggle Hogwarts. It is an actual online version of Hogwarts. Complete with online classes such as Defense against the dark arts and Transfiguration, House competitions and house points, its very own Hogwarts library and much more. As a Harry Potter fan myself, I can’t believe I didn’t know about this website before now. So if you’re bored or if you want to procrastinate doing real life homework in order to do Hogwarts school work then this is the website for you.

NOTE: The last two websites require you to make an account but the process is really quick and completely free.
