Up-At-Bat – Clubs’ final meetings

  • WJ Crew club celebrates the end of their year with an End of The Year Picnic at Cabin John Regional Park. The graduating seniors are both sad for leaving the underclassmen but also excited for their futures beyond highschool. The seniors (top row Baxter Roberts, Robert Hsu, Ethan Nguyen, Ian Shin, Alex Isaac, Nate Henderson, Antoine Fradet, Ryan Frank, (bottom row), Ava Rohatgi, Haley Minnick, and Maggie Berrett all lined up the spoon of a WJ oar as their final gift. “I’m going to miss all my senior and underclassmen friends. I really wish for the younger atheletes to spend their times in WJ Crew with no regrets,” Berrett said.

  • PSI Alpha Honors Society had their final monthly meeting on June 6, Tuesday, during lunch. In this meeting, the members of the society are hearing from the candidates who are running for the Executive Board and will be holding elections for leadership positions for the 2023-2024 year.

  • The Korean Language Club meet for their final meeting on Wednesday after school. The club threw a fun little party with Korean snacks and Korean dramas to end a fantastic year of learning more about Korean culture and language. “It’s been so fun informing others with Korean culture and traditions. I hope next year’s leadership has as much fun as I did,” President Rachel Bahn said.

  • Model UN meets on Wednesday, May 31 to elect club leadership for the upcoming year. Junior Leora Leavey was elected by the members to be the President of the club. “I’m really excited for the upcoming school year! This year is an important building year for our club, and I’m confident that the new leadership team and our members will be up to the task. We got this, Model UN!” Leavey said.

  • STEM4all meets in room 222 on Friday, June 2. The members get along and work together well to run the club. Junior president Jasmin Wu commented on the importance of the members in the club. “I feel really happy because we’ve learned a lot together as leadership. Ethan helps with ideas, Juna helps with snacks, and Sara always helps with Instagram posts and Erin helps with lots of logistical things, snacks as well as interacting with administrators for events where we host guest speakers, and we talk about different career paths.” Wu said.

  • Fashion Club hosts an end-of-the-year party on Thursday, June 1 as the school year wraps up. The party was open to anybody and had pizza and a variety of snacks. Sophomore president Marissa Campos reflected on the projects and events that the club carried out in the past year. “We are so proud of all of our members and what they have accomplished for this year. We had lots of fun modeling events and a really good fundraiser. We can wait for next year because we have a lot more in store,” Campos said.

  • Multicultural Club holds a meeting to discuss the individuality of the cultures that make up the school. The club met on Wednesday, May 31 in room 168 and was led by the newly elected officers. Former President and graduated senior Fatima Kane reflected on the end of the year and the new leadership when she visited the school for the meeting. “We are immensely proud of how well the club has turned out. We’ve accomplished every goal that we said at the beginning of the year. Our main focus being bringing people together and having a space where people feel comfortable enough to share their stories and show who they are. I have really high hopes for the club for the 2023-2024 school year and I only hope that we can continue to grow and bring more people together,” Kane said.
