JV Football: Sept. 5, 6-13

Walter Johnson JV football started their first game at home against Rockville Saturday morning at 10 a.m.; the team came out looking ready and anxious to play.

By the end of the first quarter, the score was 0-0, although Rockville struck first with a touchdown in the second quarter to make it 7-0. As the game went on, WJ came back strong after half-time to score their first touchdown by sophomore defensive end Daniel Curtin. Soon after the fourth quarter began, Rockville came out to score another touchdown, changing the score to 6-13.

Although it was not the outcome the team pictured, they kept their heads up high until the last few minutes of the game, but the score remained unchanged. Although starting off with a loss, assistant coach Jimmy Etheridge felt that the boys played tough up until the final whistle.

“We kept consistent and offensive and we look foward to week by week improvement,” said Etheridge.
