Trend Alert: Coats

Coats come in many different styles and can portray different things. Cape coats, a type of coat that drapes over the shoulders, are more high-fashion and are a bit more daring due to their pomp and circumstance, while leather jackets are more laid back and edgy and trenches are formal and warm.

Layers are the best way to stay toasty during the school day, while still looking and feeling good in clothes. Thus, even though the weather has turned cold, fashion can still take place in the essence of layering found this season.

Sophomore Danielle Arons did just that with her cute black mini military coat. She layered it with a circular royal blue scarf to add color and warmth.

“[This coat] is versatile and it gives just the right amount of warmth during any season,” said Arons.

The best thing about coats is that you can find warm, quality, yet fashionable, ones for under $50. Rather than shopping at big name stores, like Nordstrom or Macy’s, try Marshall’s or TJMaxx, two stores owned by the same company designed to give you brand name fashions for less.
