Many students were spotted walking into the school Monday morning without backpacks or books, but not for the reason you may expect. Walter’s Johnson’s first “Stressbuster” day was set to take place that day, playdough, dance music, and board games abounding.

WJ Principal Jennifer Baker opted to use the half-day to promote student wellness, recruiting teachers and clubs to host different electives throughout the school. While half of the student population watched the film “Angst”, an informational movie that discusses mental health issues such as anxiety and depression, other students participated in club and staff-sponsored activities including dance parties and friendship bracelet making.
