The NBA season starts in one week and as usual the Washington Wizards are expected to be a borderline playoff team this year and take home another draft pick. The Wizards have the third longest postseason drought in the NBA, and throughout this offseason, the Wizards’ star point guard John Wall has continally said that the Wizards long playoff drought will end this year. The playoffs are a long way away and at the moment, the Wizards are just waiting for everyone on the roster to come back healthy so they can take the NBA by storm this year.
The Wizards are now down as two players and will injured at the start of this season. Center Emeka Okafor has a herniated disc in his neck which will leave him unable to participate in preseason, but he hopes to return by the season opener. In addition, the Wizards also have taken a big hit to the men who play in the front court as forward Chris Singleton has a broken foot and has missed all of training camp and will miss the start of the regular season.
However, the Wizards have some things going good for them for the near future as with multiple high draft picks. For the past couple years the team has acquired many young players with lots of talent such as late local college standout Otto Porter, Jr. Who played for Georgetown. With alot of young talent in their first year of the NBA, this might not be the Wizards best year ever but it definitely looks like a step in the right direction.
