Trend Alert- Tech Edition: Keek

Trend Alert- Tech Edition: Keek

First there was MySpace, then Facebook, then Twitter, then Instagram and now Keek.

Keek is a video sharing social media site with corresponding apps on iPhone and Android. Usually used as an outlet for celebrities to stay in touch with their fans, Keek allows its users to film up to a 36-second video as a quick way to share information. These videos are usually funny clips that portray celebrities in their day-to-day lives that most people aren’t used to witnessing.

Olympic gold medalists, McKayla Maroney and Tom Daley, post videos like packing for trips across the country and flipping pancakes, respectively. Videos like these provide a better way of getting to know celebrities.

After users post their Keeks, their subscribers and followers can “Keekback,” or reply with their own video.

Though one can share videos via Facebook and YouTube, Keek has a faster upload and provides features like private Keeks and Klusters that further personalizes one’s Keek experience.

As of late, only public figures, like Maroney and Daley, and their fans use Keek, but it will most likely be a developing social media site that will gain many more fans in the future.
