Senior and WJ swim captain Timmy Ellett recently announced his commitment to swim for the University of Kentucky. Ellett will be swimming against some of the nation’s best teams in the powerhouse Southeastern Conference (SEC). The Wildcats finished ninth at last year’s SEC tournament.

Ellett was choosing between Kentucky, the Ohio State University and University of Tennessee. Ellett said Kentucky ultimately was the best place for him.

“After a lot of thinking I decided [Kentucky] was the best fit for me both academically and athletically,” Ellett said. “I want to major in business, my brother is doing well with a business degree from Maryland so I want to follow in his footsteps.”

Ellett believes WJ swim and dive is going to have a great year.

“Hopefully we can win states,” Ellett said. “We’ve had a consistent upward trend since my freshman year so we hope to continue that.”
